eSite

An interactive, online mapping tool
for stakeholder participation in
environmental site selection

Good Evening, Welcome to eSite!  This web site is designed to evaluate a web-based tool, eSite, and assess its effectiveness as a way of communicating information about environmental siting issues.  You are participating in a beta-test of the eSite application, using data representing a hypothetical case study on marine reserves in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.  The site is designed to evaluate the eSite tool, NOT to provide real solutions to the issue portrayed.  The concepts presented can be applied to siting of disposal sites, wind farms, and other issues which may benefit from the visual display and interaction with relevant information.

The eSite application is the product of research by Christiaan Adams for his master's thesis.  In order to evaluate the usability of the tool and the possibilities for this type of application, visitors are asked to participate in two short surveys, one before entering the site, and one after trying the application.
Thank you for your input!
